Israeli Army Trapped in the Quagmire of Southern Lebanon / Unable to Enter Bint Jbeil

Despite besieging the town of Bint Jbeil, Israel has become embroiled in a war of attrition and has so far been unable to effectively enter this town in southern Lebanon.

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The town of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon is witnessing a complex pattern of combat. While the Israeli army continues to besiege the town, it has been unable to launch a real incursion and entry into the town due to Hezbollah's resistance and the losses the Israelis are suffering on the ground.

According to a report by Al Jazeera, Hassan Jouni, a military and strategic expert, analyzing the field situation, stated that the Israeli army is employing a slow maneuver—an approach aimed at reducing human casualties. He emphasized that this method was adopted after the Israeli invading forces suffered losses since the beginning of their attack on the town of Bint Jbeil in recent days.

Jouni added that the Israeli forces have besieged Bint Jbeil, but this siege involves military equipment and hardware, not infantry forces. He explained that the geographical conditions and urban fabric of Bint Jbeil make it difficult to completely close the siege ring and control the interior of the town.

He continued that the Israeli army has besieged Bint Jbeil but has so far not made an effective and real entry into it, and intense clashes between Israeli soldiers and Hezbollah forces continue without any noticeable advance.

Battle Objectives

Explaining the objectives of this operation, Jouni said, "Israel seeks the fall of Bint Jbeil as part of a broader plan to control the central area after operations in the east and west of this axis, and the stated goal is to establish a buffer zone." He added that the Israeli army resorts to destroying towns to reduce the resistance's capability in residential areas of southern Lebanon.

He also emphasized, "Bint Jbeil has significance that extends beyond the military dimension; it has symbolic and strategic importance, especially at a time when negotiations between Lebanon and Israel are underway in Washington."

Intensification of Missile Attacks

Subsequently, Jouni drew a connection between ground operations and the intensification of Hezbollah's missile attacks, stating that Israeli forces' movements deep in the field reveal identifiable targets.

He said, "Whenever ground maneuvers are activated, support lines in the rear also move, and this makes targets visible to Hezbollah."

The military and strategic expert added, "Hezbollah forces hunt for weak points, and this explains the increase in Hezbollah's missile attacks simultaneously with any Israeli field movement."

Evacuation Orders

Regarding the evacuation orders issued by the Israeli army, Jouni said, "These orders have now become an additional weapon in Israel's strategy; their goal is to evacuate areas of their inhabitants and deprive the resistance of popular support."

He also noted that the Israeli army's focus on the area between the Litani and Zahrani rivers indicates an effort to increase military pressure on Hezbollah, particularly given the possibility of using these areas to launch short-range missiles toward the Galilee region.
